Toronto School for PianoMariko Kamachi![]() Mariko Kamachi, born in Saitama, Japan, studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music's Glenn Gould School as a student of Leslie Kinton. She began her piano study at the age of five with Mitsuo Yoshino in Japan. Mariko is an active chamber musician. In Toronto, she has performed on the Alicier Arts chamber music series, and on the Canadian Opera Company's Free Concert Series at the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre. In Regina, she performed a recital with cellist Peter Cosbey on the Regina Musical Club concert series which was broadcast on CBC radio. As a member of the Grace Trio, Mariko performed at Studio 345 in Toronto to a full house. The Grace Trio has recorded new compositions by Alexander Rapoport and Sharbel Dalal for future radio broadcast. Mariko has been teaching piano since 2000. In 2003 she taught at the Summer Arts Camp at Harquail in the Cayman Islands and in 2008 she taught at the Regina String Workshop in Regina. Mariko currently teaches piano at Kingsway College School and at the Toronto School for Strings. She offers to teach both piano and theory in either Japanese or English. As well as teaching Mariko is an active accompanist. She has been the pianist for the Bloor Street Gospel Chorus since 2009 and frequently accompanies students for recitals and exams. Mariko's other interests include studying child psychology, Taekwondo, and pampering her cat Coco. |
